Open Call for the First Exhibition at the Kunsthalle Graubünden

The Kunsthalle Graubünden is as an independent space for contemporary art, exchange, and experimental practice. We aim to provide artists with a space to develop new works, make processes visible, and realize projects that emerge in dialogue with the location.
The upcoming exhibition will be the very first ever held at the Kunsthalle Graubünden. For this inaugural event, we have chosen the format of an open call to highlight the diversity of artistic creation and to bring together different perspectives on Graubünden, the Alpine region, and the specific exhibition space of the Kunsthalle. The exhibition is intended as an invitation to re-examine the location through artistic engagement and to collectively shape a multifaceted beginning for the Kunsthalle.

The Kunsthalle Graubünden invites artists to apply for the first exhibition in 2027 (starting in February). The submitted projects are envisioned as a group exhibition and may encompass all media and artistic practices.

Requirement
The submitted work must be site-specific to the Kunsthalle Graubünden. We are looking for proposals that relate to a specific location within the Kunsthalle and respond spatially, architecturally, or atmospherically to the situation.

This means:
• The work responds to a specific space, an architectural situation, or a specific location within the Kunsthalle.
• The project is developed specifically for the exhibition and for a specific location within the Kunsthalle.
• All media and artistic practices are permitted.

Spaces & Site Visit
A floor plan and photographs of the rooms are available here for orientation.
Since the Kunsthalle will remain closed until October, there will be a viewing session during which the Kunsthalle can be toured. The viewing session will provide a direct impression of the spatial situation and offer an opportunity for questions and discussion on site.
